Bita Bayatsarmadi

Dr Bita Bayatsarmadi is a Principal Research Scientist in CSIRO Mineral Resources, currently leading the Process Innovation Group in the Mineral Processing Program. She specialises in chemical engineering, electrochemical processing, and flow electrochemistry, with a strong focus on developing technologies that enable a decarbonised industry, green metals, and responsible critical mineral supply chains. Bita completed her PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Adelaide in 2017, where she designed novel carbon-based nanomaterials for energy storage and conversion. She joined CSIRO the same year as a Postdoctoral Fellow, driving breakthrough research in electrochemical intensification and co-inventing CSIRO’s Electrochemical Flow Cell (EFC) platform technology. Since 2020, Bita has led major externally funded programs, advancing CSIRO’s electrochemical technologies from concept to industry-validated systems. Before migrating to Australia, Bita worked as a Process Engineer on large-scale EPC oil and gas projects, an experience that underpins her strong industry engagement and focus on translational impact.
