Fengru Fan
Professor Fengru Fan is a faculty member in the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Xiamen University. She received her BSc (2006) and PhD (2013) from Xiamen University under the supervision of Professor Zhonglin Wang. From 2008 to 2012, she was a visiting researcher in Professor Zhonglin Wang’s group at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she was among the early contributors to the development of triboelectric nanogenerators. She later conducted postdoctoral research with Professor Galen Stucky at the University of California, Santa Barbara from 2016 to 2019.
Her research focuses on the design of novel charged interfaces and their physicochemical behaviors, with particular interests in contact-electro-catalysis, microdroplet chemistry, and electrocatalysis based on palladium materials. She has published over 90 papers, with more than 26,000 citations and an h-index of 52. Her work includes over 30 corresponding-author publications in leading journals such as PNAS, JACS, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, and Nature Communications in the past five years.
Professor Fan has been recognized as an Emerging Investigator by journals including Journal of Materials Chemistry A (2021) and Nanoscale (2022), and has been listed as a Highly Cited Researcher in China by Elsevier in 2024 and 2025.
