Biography Patience Mapule Thabede obtained her national diploma in Analytical Chemistry from Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). She joined Vaal University of Technology (VUT) in 2013 to complete her BTech studies. She then continued her studies with VUT and obtained her Master of Technology (MTech: Chemistry) in 2014. In 2018 she registered for Doctor of Philosophy (PhD: Chemistry) specialising in water treatment and obtained her PhD in Chemistry in 2021. Her research work since BTech studies have been presented in different conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. She has published over 30 research articles in reputable academic journals. Her PhD work produced more than 15 articles, and she is currently employed at Vaal University of Technology as a Technologist. She is a Certified Natural Scientist registered with South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP). Throughout her career she has received several awards and recognition for her research work. Some of the awards includes Rectorate’s Award for Teaching Excellence, Sept 2025, Research Productivity Certificate 2025, Upcoming Researcher, Female publications 2024, Emerging Researcher Recognition 2024.
