Maximilian Mann
Dr. Max Mann obtained his PhD from Flinders University in 2022 focusing on developing new polymers for coating, composites, environmental remediation and mining applications. During his PhD, Max applied the polymers used in mining applications to recover precious metals from electronic waste. For this work he received the 2022 SA Environment Award in the category “Innovation Award” and the 2022 Green Industries SA Circular Economy Student Award. After finishing his PhD Max held a postdoctoral position at Flinders University, continuing his work in precious metal recovery from electronic waste. During this time, he also developed and modified metal organic cages for short chain perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) capture. Max joined Dr. Andrew Frierdich’s Group at Monash in May 2023 and is working on critical metal recovery from mine tailings as well as carbon mineralisation.
