Elena Gorenskaia
Dr Elena Gorenskaia is a Research Associate at Curtin University, working on advanced electrochemical sensing platforms based on ionic liquid systems, with Prof Debbie Silvester. Her research focuses on designing miniaturised electrochemical sensors for rapid, on-site detection of water contaminants, explosives, and toxic gases, with a strong emphasis on real-world applications, for improved safety, and environmental monitoring purposes. Her work bridges fundamental research and real-life applications, and is recognised as having strong commercialisation potential through a recent Curtinnovation Award (2025). Elena completed her PhD at the University of Western Australia (UWA) under the supervision of Prof Paul Low, where her research centred on molecular electronics and surface science, exploring charge transport at the single-molecule level.
