Stefan Paula
Stefan Paula is a native of Germany and currently a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at California State University, Sacramento, USA. He previously held faculty appointments at Northern Kentucky University and Purdue University and was a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Newcastle, Australia.
His research focuses on the computer-assisted discovery of novel bioactive compounds for medicinal and practical applications. His laboratory employs computational methods for the analysis and prediction of biological activity alongside traditional bioassays used to experimentally evaluate compound activity.
A major area of his research centers on modulators of ion-transporting P-type ATPases with potential applications in the treatment of cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and malaria. His group collaborates extensively with synthetic organic chemists, biologists, and computational chemists.
