Dr Gordon Florence – EaStChem School of Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences Research Complex, University of St Andrews, UK Gordon J. Florence received his BA degree in Natural Sciences in 1997 and his PhD in 2001 from Cambridge University, working with Professor Ian Paterson FRS. Following 18 months’ postdoctoral research with Professor Craig J. Forsyth (University of Minnesota), he returned to Cambridge as College Research Fellow and working in Professor Paterson's group. In 2005, he moved to the University of St Andrews to take up a Royal Society University Research Fellowship and is currently a Senior Lecturer and Director of Postgraduate Research. His research interests are centred on developing novel synthetic methods and strategies to that spans natural product synthesis and diversification to the design and application of selective probes for chemical biology.
