Sumaira Basharat
Sumaira Basharat is a researcher, chemist and PhD student at The University of Auckland, New Zealand. Her work focuses on developing novel, chemically modified cellulose-based
graft polymers that selectively trap water pollutants by ion exchange. Recent work includes elimination of nitrates and phosphates by cellulose anion exchange resins which gives
comparable results to that of commercial polystyrene ones, offering a low-cost alternative to traditional filters. She has presented her groundbreaking work in various conferences and
high impact peer review journals contributing to the global scientific discourse on polymer-based environmental remediation.
