Ayushi Chand

I am an IIT Bombay–Monash joint PhD research scholar from Prof. San Thang, Dr. Chris Ritchie and Prof. Anindya Datta’s group, working at the interface of polymer chemistry, photophysics, and bioimaging. My research focuses on the RAFT polymerization-driven synthesis of functional fluorescent polymer probes designed to investigate cellular microenvironments in cancer systems. I employ advanced spectroscopic and imaging techniques, including steady-state spectroscopy, time-resolved fluorescence measurements, fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM), and confocal microscopy, to understand how molecular architecture governs excited-state dynamics and dictates the behavior of fluorescent probes within complex biological systems. My work aims to develop responsive molecular systems capable of sensing and visualizing subtle changes in cellular environments. I am particularly interested in translating fundamental photophysical insights into next-generation imaging platforms and functional materials for biomedical applications. I enjoy interdisciplinary research and am keen to connect with researchers working across smart materials, spectroscopy, imaging, and healthcare-oriented technologies.
