My doctoral research focuses on the development and optimization of an advanced untargeted gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) platform for comprehensive human faecal metabolomics, with the objective of expanding detection coverage across multiple classes of metabolites, including both volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and non-volatile or semi-volatile metabolites. This research holds significant relevance to human health and biomedical science, as faecal metabolites serve as key indicators of gut microbiome activity, host–microbiome interactions, and gastrointestinal disease states.
