Olga V Zubkova
Dr Olga Zubkova is a Senior Scientist at the Ferrier Research Institute, Victoria University of Wellington. She completed her PhD in chemistry and postdoctoral research at Rostov University before joining Industrial Research Ltd in New Zealand. She was appointed to a Research Scientist role at the Carbohydrate Chemistry Team led by Prof R.H. Furneaux. Her fields of expertise are the design and synthesis of Glycosaminoglycan mimetics, Heparan Sulfate dendrimers and labeled glycosides as molecular probes for imaging and localization studies. Her group is particularly interested in the potential of heparanase inhibitors in therapeutic applications. Dr Zubkova’s research is supported by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, NZ Breast Cancer Foundation and the Health Research Council of New Zealand. She is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry and maintains an extensive international network of collaborators across New Zealand, Australia, the UK and Canada.
