Chloe Broeckelmann
Chloe Broeckelmann is a PhD candidate in the School of Environment and Science at Griffith University, holding a Bachelor of Forensic Science (Chemistry) and a Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice. Her Honours research, completed in late 2025, developed a multimodal analytical workflow combining ATR-FTIR spectroscopy and hyperspectral imaging to characterise the recyclability of polypropylene-based medical plastics sourced from the Queensland Children's Hospital. Her PhD, supervised by Dr James Chapman and Professor Stefanie Feih, extends this work through the Solving Plastic Waste CRC and Children's Health Queensland to evaluate and redesign medical plastic products for an Australian circular economy. Her research integrates advanced spectroscopic techniques, data fusion strategies, and chemometric modelling to address contamination, compositional variability, and recyclability classification in complex healthcare waste streams.
