Scarlet Hopkins

Scarlet is a PhD candidate within the School of Environment & Science at Griffith University. She holds a Bachelor of Forensic Science (Chemistry), Bachelor of Criminology & Criminal Justice, Bachelor of Science (Honours, 1st class) from Griffith University. Her research focuses on applying inorganic chemistry to improve chemical detection techniques used in the analysis of forensic evidence. She aims to better understand the chemistry underpinning the tests used in the visual detection of trace evidence, with the goal of improving them for greater sensitivity and reliability. Beyond her research, Scarlet is the President for the Early Career Chemists Committee under the QLD division of RACI and a CAS Future Leader for 2026.
