Run Zhang

Dr. Run Zhang is a Senior Research Fellow at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) with joint appointment at the Centre for Nutrition and Food Sciences, Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (CNAFS/QAAFI) in The University of Queensland (UQ). He received his PhD in Analytical Chemistry in 2012, after which he joined Macquarie University as a Postdoctoral Researcher. In 2013, he was awarded the Macquarie University Research Fellowship (MQRF) to establish his independent research career in Australia. He relocated to UQ in 2016 as a Research Associate and was subsequently awarded the ARC DECRA in 2017, followed by the NHMRC Investigator in 2020. Currently, he leads a research group at AIBN-CNAFS/QAAFI in UQ, focused on developing responsive molecules and nanomaterials for sensing and bioimaging, early disease detection and treatment, and sustainable food and agricultural applications. Dr. Zhang has published 200+ papers, with over 10,000 citations and an h-index of 60. He serves as an Editor for TrAC Trends in Analytical Chemistry and Methods, both published by Elsevier.
