Frédéric Paul

F. Paul was educated as an organometallic chemist Strasbourg-France (Ph.D with J. A. Osborn in, then postdocs with J. F. Hartwig and F. Mathey). He entered the CNRS in Rennes in 1996 in the group of C. Lapinte and became independent in 2009. Since then, he has kept a strong interest for the rational design of various molecules endowed with particular electronic or photonic properties. His current research topics comprise: (i) Development of new multipolar biphotonic absorbers, (ii) Synthesis and study of redox-switchable 3rd order organometallic NLO-phores and devices, (iii) Theoretical (DFT) and spectroscopic studies of various families of model compounds, (iv) Use of substituent effects to fine-tune their properties, (v) Phototherapies and bioimaging. Strongly associated with these interests are evidently implied the concomitant development of efficient synthetic methodologies to access the targeted molecules in good yields.
