Ole Tietz
Dr Ole Tietz is a Senior Research Fellow and Group Leader at the Dementia Research Centre based at Macquarie Medical School. Ole has a background in Chemistry and obtained his PhD in Oncology from the University of Alberta, Canada. He has held prestigious fellowships at the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford. At Macquarie, Ole leads the Chemistry Group, driving innovation in molecular tools to diagnose and treat Dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, and Motor Neuron Disease. His research focuses on designing small molecules and biologics to target key biomolecular pathways implicated in the progression of neurodegeneration. Ole is the co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of a spin-out company – SynaptraBIO – where he develops small molecule therapeutics to treat Alzheimer's Disease.
